Bulletproof

 

Réalisée à Montréal en octobre 2018 dans la Résidence d’Artistes 2FIK

 

Cela commence avec le nom d’une ville, comme un panneau de signalisation, un graphisme accrocheur, à un détail près.
Puis l’horreur resurgit de l’inconscient collectif, suivent la tristesse et l’incompréhension.

Ce trompe l’œil nous plonge dans une réalité tangible que nous voulions omettre.
Le mélange des codes de la publicité et du reportage ravive le nom en honorant la mémoire meurtrie. 

 

 

 Realised in October 2018 in Montreal at 2Fik’s art residency. 

It starts with the name of a city, like a traffic sign, a catchy imagery that has one disturbing tiny detail. 
Then, the horror arises from our collective unconsciousness, quickly followed by sadness and misunderstanding. 
This optical illusion throws us in a tangible reality that we me wanted obliviated and set aside. Mixing the codes of advertisement and reporting revives the name by honoring the wounded memory.
